Bigger wall units and ceiling cassette or ducted units take more time and care than a small wall unit.
Normal service, chemical wash or overhaul
A surface clean, a coil and drain pan wash and a full dismantle are different amounts of work. We say if the lighter job is enough.
Access and height
High ceilings, tight outdoor-unit ledges, ladders and condo contractor rules change the time needed.
Gas or parts, only if needed
Gas is topped up only if it is actually low, and parts only if something is faulty. Both are raised in the chat first.

Not every time. A normal service is enough for a unit that was cleaned recently. A chemical wash makes sense if the unit smells, cools weakly, drips, or has not been washed for a year or more. We will tell you if the cheaper job is enough.
A common rule of thumb is a normal service every 3 to 4 months and a chemical wash about once a year for a home used daily. Dusty areas, pets and heavy use mean sooner.
